What is it like to be a part of Moriah church? What is our worship "style" like? What kind of people can you expect to meet on Sunday morning and for our other gathered times during the week? Great questions! And as you seek a place to call home with a church family to accept you for who you are, let us explain a bit about who we are!

It's true that Moriah is almost 201 years old as a congregation! But we are yet a vibrant community looking forward to God's work in new ways every day. This is not a congregation of people unwilling to open our circle a little wider--so our worship style and ministries change periodically based on who is in our midst! Currently we worship with a more "blended" style, allowing for a mixture of classic hymns and contemporary songs as we praise God together. For example, we might sing good ol' "Amazing Grace" and then immediately follow it with something by Chris Tomlin. Some in worship will sing loudly, and others will do so very softly. There is no pre-set expectation for you as you visit--come as you are, and participate as God leads you!

We hold two services each Sunday: an early, "informal" service and a late service. The early service meets at 8:30AM and the late service at 11AM. Pastor Eric, pictured to the right, typically preaches a sermon based very closely from Scripture, no more than about 20 minutes. During our late service we have a choir, and at our informal service music is led fully by our music director CJ Albee. At some services we have baptisms and folks joining our church; at others we have special prayers for groups and individuals in the world. Occasionally we will have a guest preacher, and monthly we celebrate communion at the Lord's Table. But here at Moriah, we have no specific dress code! You may come in formal attire, or in jeans and T-shirt! We are a lovely mixed bunch!

Now and then we have a lunch following Sunday worship for special occasions. If you find yourself visiting on one of these special days, then we welcome you to eat with us! Guests who didn't know about Methodist potlucks won't be left out in the cold--there is always plenty to go around, and everyone is always welcome!

So if you're interested in finding a new church home, or just finding out about the Christian faith as practiced in the United Methodist Church, or maybe just stumbled here by accident, we invite you to use the tabs on the left to navigate the site to learn more about our community, our beliefs, our vision for the future, and our events and life together. The truth is that God is moving in new ways at Moriah UMC, and we don't always know what that will mean for us--but we are excited, because where God is involved, good things surely follow.
